In South Africa, Women's Day is celebrated on August 9th every year. This year, Trot Your Globe (Pty) Ltd celebrated the day with an online event, aimed at empowering women across the country.
The event had the theme "Amandla Awethu," which means "the power is ours" in Zulu. Our goal was to empower women who make a difference in the country, and we chose to partner with the Ntethelelo Foundation, founded by Thokozani Ndaba, to achieve this.
Through a dance fitness class and barre class, we were able to raise R6350.00 through ticket sales, which we donated to the Ntethelelo Foundation.
We also had a mental health psychologist, Anastasia, who gave an empowering talk to close the event. The participants were excited about the prizes we had in store, and we awarded two prize hampers to lucky ticket holders.
Our grand-prize winner, Orlinda Mafika, walked away with a one-month access pass to Trot Your Globe’s online classes, three vouchers for free Breathe Barre group classes, a wellness book sponsored by fellow South African psychologist Joanne Macgregor titled 'Self-help Stories', a set of 1kg dumbbells, a set of 0.5kg ankle weights, a fitness towel, and a voucher from Grate Cafe.
The second prize winner, Nicola Ilgner-Matteucci, received a wellness book sponsored by Joanne Macgregor titled 'Self-help Stories', a fitness towel, and a voucher from Grate Café.
