Trot My Globe: Embracing Individuality Through Dance

The power of dance to inspire and uplift is undeniable. It was this power that inspired Toka, founder of Trot Your Globe, to organise a dance competition that would reward courage and give hope to young, talented dancers. This competition began in July 2012, with the support of Dance Unlimited and the Miss Earth South Africa pageant.

The competition was a huge success, and it was covered by
the local newspaper (seen when you click here). Toka was able to acquire sponsorships for prizes worth R10,000 and also raised approximately R3,000 in cash, which she donated to the Miss Earth SA organisation. The event was a testament to the power of community and the importance of supporting young people in pursuit of their dreams.

The success of the competition did not end there. Toka received a call from Dance Unlimited, informing her that they had received the go-ahead to make the competition an annual event. This was a significant milestone for Trot My Globe and marked its impact on the community of Vanderbijlpark Gauteng.

Trot My Globe is a celebration of individuality, creativity, and courage. Through dance, Toka has created a platform for young people to express themselves and pursue their passions. The competition is a reminder of the importance of supporting and empowering the youth of our communities. It is through events like this that we can build a better, more inclusive future for all.

We applaud Toka and the team at Trot My Globe for their commitment to promoting individuality and creativity through dance. We look forward to seeing the impact that this annual event will continue to have on the young people of Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng and beyond.
