Toka Lintsa, recently starred in a Mutzig TV commercial that's been airing in both France and West Africa. This reminded her of a recent trip to Paris France, as she took the opportunity to immerse herself in the City of Love and document her experiences.
In her own words, the trip to Paris highlighted the importance to explore places in person as opposed to relying on digital media. The real Paris was vastly different from the pictures painted by some of the movies watched. The expected romance of lovers embroiled in marriage proposals on the streets, was not met.
She was also struck by the simplicity of Parisian culture. While South Africans invest in super cars to get around, Parisians opt for super small cars instead.
Despite the anxiety caused by recent terror attacks, she was inspired by the sense of family and community, which made her feel safe and welcome. She witnessed a piano man serenading the atmosphere at one of the metro stations, which brought calm to both locals and tourists alike.
Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without checking out the iconic landmarks. She was blown away by the engineering marvels of the Eiffel Tower and Arc De Triomphe, and highly recommends touring at night to see them in their full glory, where the Eiffel lights up the night sky during the festive season.
Overall, her visit to Paris served as a reminder that there is simply no substitute for any firsthand travel experience.
